Memorials
Few sounds …
… convey the solemnity and dignity associated with memorial and funeral services more than highland bagpipes playing as part of the ceremony. Bagpipes add an honoring touch to any service. John has played bagpipes in service to many families of the Bay Area, Northern & Southern California
Without a doubt, the playing of “Amazing Grace”, “Going Home” or "Flower of Scotland" will contribute to a sense of celebration and closure. I am available on short notice and have played at a variety of memorials including church, graveside services, wakes and family homes.
you may wish …
… to consider including:
Playing at the church or chapel as mourners arrive.
Playing as the casket is brought into the church.
Playing during the memorial service; outside or inside church
Escorting the casket as it is brought from hearse during the graveside ceremony.
Playing at the end of the graveside ceremony as mourners leave.
Playing in conjunction with military honors for a fallen soldier.
Playing aboard a yacht honoring the scattering of ashes at sea.
One idea is …
… at the graveside ceremony have the piper start at a distance away (even out of sight) and slowly march toward the gathering. At the conclusion of the ceremony it may also be moving to have the bagpiper playing while slowly marching off into the distance. I can play a selection of slow-airs and laments of your choosing.
